The short version
Magellan doesn't cover everything, but keeps whole product (new) and whole product (reconditioned) covered to 1 year. That full coverage is the same as most of the 13 brands we compared, which typically cover nothing in full. You don't need to register to get this coverage.

- Keep your receipt; Magellan needs proof of purchase for warranty service.
- Get a Return Authorization number before shipping; boxes without one are sent back with a $25 charge.
- Magellan replaces a faulty unit with a reconditioned one rather than repairing it.
