The short version

Tervis doesn't cover everything, but keeps insulation (thermal performance) covered to 5 years. That full coverage is the same as most of the 32 brands we compared, which typically cover nothing in full. You don't need to register to get this coverage.

From Tervis's published warranty, checked October 2026.

What it leaves out

  • Accidental breaks and misuse
  • Missing parts
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Scratches, dents and looks
Good to know before you buy
  • You pay the postage to mail the cup back; Tervis inspects it before replacing.
  • Lids, handles and straws are not covered.
  • Cups bought secondhand, like at a yard sale, are not covered.
  • The 5 years count from when the cup was made, not when you bought it.
  • Only loss of insulation qualifies; dents, chips and worn designs do not.
