Kohler Generators warranty for generators
The short version
Kohler Generators covers generators in full for 5 years, with no partial coverage after that. That full coverage is longer than most of the 14 brands we compared, which typically cover 1 year in full. Some of this coverage only applies if you register the product.

The fine print, decoded
What it leaves out
- Normal wear and tear
- Scratches, dents and looks
Good to know before you buy
- A Kohler dealer must start up and register the generator for the warranty clock to start properly.
- Labor and travel are covered only in years 1 and 2 unless you bought the extended plan.
- The extended plan must be registered and paid for within 90 days of startup.
- Use non-Kohler replacement parts and that part loses coverage.
