18/100 Warranty ScoreRanked 3 of 7 brandsVaries by model line

Toshiba doesn't cover everything, but keeps canvio premium, slim, 3.0, flex or canvio desk and canvio advance, connect, gaming or canvio for desktop covered to 3 years. That full coverage is the same as most of the 7 brands we compared, which typically cover nothing in full. You don't need to register to get this coverage.

The fine print, decoded

What it leaves out

  • Accidental breaks and misuse
  • Missing parts
  • Overheating
Good to know before you buy
  • How long your drive is covered depends on the model; check the model number on the drive.
  • Back up your data; drive warranties generally cover the hardware, not the data on it.
  • Covers the original buyer only, for a drive bought new. Keep your receipt.
  • You pay to ship the drive back; Toshiba pays to ship the replacement.
  • Toshiba does not recover or cover lost data, so back up before sending a drive in.
